Bordello manager faces prison time

BACLIFF — A bordello manager is expected to be formally sentenced today to two years in prison after a judge found her testimony in a Wednesday punishment hearing to be untruthful, court documents show.
Tuyet Thi Tran, 41, was convicted in December of aggravated promotion of prostitution, stemming from a deputy wearing an audio-recording device when entering Santa Fe Spa, 1007 Grand Ave., in Bacliff.
Judge Susan Criss, of Galveston’s 212th District Court, told Tran on Wednesday she intended to sentence her to two years in prison rather than giving her probation, saying Tran tried to deceive the court in her testimony.
“In order for her to be successful on probation, there has to be some trust involved,” Criss said.
