Huỳnh Phi Long (40 tuổi), cựu sinh viên y khoa đồng tính gốc Việt vừa bị tòa án ở Mỹ cáo buộc phạm các tội: Ðầu độc bằng thuốc, hiếp dâm và giết người đối với anh Dane Williams (23 tuổi).
Huỳnh Phi Long, 40 tuổi, bị Tòa Thượng thẩm San Diego tuyên bố có tội với tất cả tội danh, chỉ sau vài giờ thảo luận của bồi thẩm đoàn. Long hiện đối mặt với bản án chung thân mà không được tại ngoại nếu bị tuyên án.
Dane Williams (23 tuổi, sống tại Huntington Beach) bị phát hiện mất tích hồi tháng 1/2008, khi đang làm việc trong một hội chợ bán đồ thể thao cho công ty Hurley International ở San Diego. Đêm hôm đó, Williams cùng bạn bè đi chơi tại một quán bar tại quận Gaslamp, ở San Diego. Williams tách khỏi bạn bè và họ không có bất cứ thông tin gì về anh từ sau 1 giờ sáng ngày 26/1/2008. Ba ngày sau, người ta thấy xác Williams bọc trong tấm chăn đầy máu, vứt ở ngõ sâu gần khu vực nhà Long.
Suốt 1 năm qua, cảnh sát không thể tìm ra nguyên nhân cái chết của Williams. Mới đây, khi các thám tử chuyên điều tra án mạng ở San Diego bắt tay tìm kiếm, họ đã tìm thấy ADN trên thi thể nạn nhân trùng hợp với ADN của Long.
Sếp cũ của Long, ông chủ một công ty về phim sách khiêu dâm dành riêng cho người đồng tính đã khai trước tòa rằng Long thường đến công sở khoe việc làm tình với phái nam, sau khi lừa họ dùng thuốc.
Ông Hendren cho biết, mấy lọ đựng thuốc an thần tìm thấy ở nhà Long, tương tự loại dược chất có trong cơ thể Williams. Hồ sơ bệnh lý không cho thấy Williams dùng đến thuốc này.
Bốn bác sĩ đã cùng xác nhận cái chết của Williams là do bị giết. Ông Hendren trích lời của một bác sĩ, cho thấy Williams bị chết ngạt, và thời điểm nạn nhân chết ngạt có thể xảy ra trong khoảng thời gian nạn nhân bị tấn công tình dục. Ông Hendren nói thêm, Long đã giấu xác của Williams trong ba ngày, trước khi đem bọc trong chăn, rồi thuê một chiếc xe tải U-haul và một chiếc Dodge Caravan, chở xác nạn nhân đến một ngõ sâu để vứt.
Trong phiên xử Long tại tòa, bốn người đàn ông khác cũng khai họ có gặp Long và sau đó “cảm thấy như bị say thuốc”. Cách đó không lâu, Long từng bị truy tố tội tấn công tình dục một thủy thủ 20 tuổi và người này cũng ra công khai đối chất trong vụ xử án lần này.

A medical student was found guilty of drugging, raping, and murdering 23-year-old Hurley intern Dane Williams before stashing Williams' body for three days in his home and later dumping it in an alley.
Philong Huynh, 40, was convicted in San Diego Superior Court on all counts just hours after the jury started deliberating. Closing arguments in the month-long trial wrapped up Friday morning, and the jury was ready to read its verdict by 2:45 p.m., but the reading was delayed so that Williams' family could attend.

Huynh faces life in prison without the possibility of parole when he is sentenced.
Williams, of Huntington Beach, was working as an intern for Hurley International in San Diego at a sports retail convention in January 2008 when he disappeared. Officials said he appeared intoxicated when he left the Hard Rock Café that night.
His body was found three days later wrapped in a bloodied comforter near Huynh's home.
His death went unexplained for a year until San Diego homicide detectives caught a break and found DNA on a rape victim that matched the DNA found on Williams and linked it to Huynh.
Huynh's former boss, who owns an amateur gay porn company, testified in San Diego court that Huynh would brag about drugging and having sex with men.
San Diego Deputy District Attorney David Hendren called on the jury Thursday to "let (Huynh) know you cannot get away with these crimes in our community."
Huynh wore a gray dress shirt and sat completely still during closing arguments Thursday. He never looked around, never adjusted his seat.
Williams' family and friends listened intently, focused to the front of the room and occasionally shaking their heads at some of Zimmerman's points.
Hendren described Williams as a responsible man who was working a job he loved at Costa Mesa-based Hurley Inc. He and friends were going out to the Gas Lamp district in San Diego after working at the convention during the day.
Williams separated from his friends and was last heard from about 1 a.m. on Jan. 26, 2008.
Hendren said bottles of the prescription anxiety medication similar to those found in Williams' system were discovered in Huynh's home and Williams had no history of taking the medication.
"The defendant gave Williams those drugs," he said. "Huynh needed those drugs to have sex with straight guys."
An autopsy showed Williams had a 60 percent blockage of one of his arteries, but that evidence shouldn't be used to distract from the merits of the case, he told the jury.
Four doctors agreed that Williams' death was a homicide, Hendren said, highlighting testimony from one doctor who said Williams' death was caused by asphyxiation, possibly during sexual assault.
Zimmerman argued that a cause of death was not determined by medical examiners and alleged the doctor the prosecution was resting its case on changed his opinion after pressure from the District Attorney's Office.
"You can't say someone died at the hands of someone else without a cause of death," she said.
Hendren then reviewed evidence that showed Huynh held on to Williams' body for about three days before wrapping it in a comforter, renting a U-Haul truck and a Dodge Caravan and driving to an alley to dispose of the body.
Four other men testified in Williams' trial that they had met Huynh and afterward "felt like they had been drugged." Huynh is also being charged with the sexual assault of a 20-year-old Navy corpsman who also testified at the trial.

After three years of police investigation, DNA evidenced linked Philong Huynh, 41, to the murder through a similar—but not fatal—attack on a Navy corpsman in June 2009. Huynh, homosexual, admitted he would seek out heterosexual men, socialize with them, and proceed to secretly drug them.
