Lừa đảo và Ăn Cắp - Tony Trung Thai

Ông Tony Trung Thái, chủ của công ty Asia Travel & Tour bị bắt ngày 21 tháng 7, 2011, tạm giam với số tiền thế chân tại ngoại là $2 triệu đô la. Ông Thái bị cáo buộc về 9 tội cắp (grand theft) và lừa đảo khách hàng.

Từ năm 2010 đến 2011, ông Thái đã nhận rất nhiều tiền từ khách hàng trả cho tiền vé du lịch hay các tour du lịch đến các nước Châu Á, dịch vụ do công ty Asia Travel & Tour của ông đảm nhận, nhưng ông nhận tiền và không giao vé máy bay, không cung cấp phục vụ theo thỏa thuận.

San Jose police arrest Tony Trung Thai for alleged fraud scheme targeting the Vietnamese community

San Jose Police Press Release

On 6/29/11, the San Jose Police Department received reports of numerous Vietnamese community members in San Jose who had been victims of consumer fraud between 2010 and 2011. Tony Trung Thai, owner of Asia Travel & Tours in San Jose, is suspected of defrauding customers by accepting their monies with the intent of keeping the funds without rendering services.

San Jose police fraud investigators contacted Thai who willingly came to the San Jose Police Department on Thursday, July 21, 2011, where he was arrested at 2:30 p.m. after being interviewed. Investigators booked Thai into the Santa Clara County Jail on thirty-nine counts of grand theft, where he remains on $2 million bail.

Investigators believe additional victims may exist, as some victims purchased travel services months in advance and paid the suspect for such services last year.
